SESE 2015/16

 History Irish Defence Force School Visit The Irish Naval Service visited the school on Tuesday, 01st December 2015. They spent some time reading the 1916 Proclamation and talking on the Proclamation & the events of 1916. They presented the Irish Flag to our school. It is planned that all schools will raise the flag at a specific time on Wednesday 16 March 2016 to commemorate these events.     Studies on ancient and present civilisations Some classes have been learning about Ancient Egypt. Others made MS Powerpoint presentations of China and Chinese civilisation.  
Geography
Lá na gCrann National Tree Day was held on Thursday 8th October. Our school celebrated this day by studying different trees, creating tree-themed Art such as leaf and bark rubbings and by following a tree trail around our school grounds. Have a look at what Mr.Cotter's Third class found resting on a branch.....                Fifth class Orienteering Both Fifth classes went orienteering in Curra Woods in September. They learned lots about map reading and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.         
Science
Our school has
been awarded a Science and Maths Excellence Plaque as part of
Science Foundation Ireland's Discovery Primary Science and Maths
Program! We are delighted with this tremendous achievement acknowledging our ongoing commitment to Science, Maths, Technology and Engineering.  Lifetime Lab Well done to our Fifth and Sixth class pupils who did very well in the Lifetime Lab Primary Science quiz held in UCC in November!  Fifth classes visited the Lifetime Lab in October. We had great fun exploring sound and our senses!
